CS&PF Application forms 2008 --------------
There seems to be some confusion about the way the CS&PF application fees are calculated.
The different parts that make up the total fee are explained on the application form but to clarify.
The greatest confusion is with relay teams. Our fees are per team -- NOT per team member.
Everyone swimming a solo or for every Relay Team there is "Administration" fee . This is £100 for the 2008 season- IT IS PER APPLICATION - NOT PER PERSON.
To the admin fee you add your "Swim" fee ( for the observer etc) again fee this is ---------------------------- PER APPLICATION -- NOT PER PERSON. --------------------------
The fee depends on the number of crossings in you attempt.
For instance a 1-way attempt is £100 for 2008. ---- A 2-way attempt is £190.
The final part is the membership.
You need to be a full member for a solo swim.
Relay teams need to have at least 1 full member and the rest of the team can be associate members. Only full members can vote at the AGM. (We would like to see you all as full members and voting but the choice is yours).
Membership is for 2 years and runs from the 1st of January of the year of joining to the 31st December of the second year.
Full member ship is £15 for the 2 years
Associate membership is £10 for the 2 years.
You can become a full member for 10 years if you wish at a reduced fee of £67.50.
There are both family and couples/partners options @ £20.
NOTE -- We now have 2 web sites with more or less the same information on them - this is to allow for backup and web editing.
For clarification below are two examples.
A SOLO swimmer doing a 1-way attempt you will be looking at CS&PF application fees of £215 (with a full membership of £15).
A RELAY team doing a standard 6 person 1-way attempt you will be looking at CS&PF application fees of £265 (that's if the team meberships include 1 full member and 5 associate member). If there is a possibility that one of your reserves is going to swim please remember - they need to be a member of the CS&PF before they can swim in the team on the day of the sttempt.
Please note -- We do not set our fees per person for relays.
The guideline dates for the CS&PF application is 1st May and for medical forms is the 1st June. Will do our best to sort out late entries. We can not however promise that CS&PF applications will be cleared in time if we do not have at least 8 weeks to sort them. Our main problem with both the applications and medicals is that they are not always signed in the appropreate places. Please check to make sure everything is completed before you send us your forms. We do have to give the British and French coastguards the swim information at the beginning of each season and this deadline is usually well in advance of your attempt.
Please send us your paperwork as soon as possible. You can send the medicals in separate to the application but you must include the team name as well as your name on all your medicals.
Remember that although it is only one application as far as you are concerned we have to sort and prepare about 150 to 200 swims every year. We need your help to make it all run smoothly.
Dover Harbour training usually starts the first weekend of May.
1. By 1st JANUARY -- Paid your deposit to your pilot and confirmed your swim reservation and booking with him. Confirmed your booking with the office.
2. By APRIL -- Booked your accommodation in Dover & thought about
your travel arrangments.
3. Built up your pool training and sorted out your feeding.
You need to get used to your feed well before your swim.
4. Have a training plan (TBC - Total Body Confusion) for
the open water build-up and thought about your support
team.
5. Received and completed your CS&PF application and medical forms and
hopefully returned them. Started a folder with your diary /planner and copies
of all your forms in it. (Make sure you keep a personal copy of all your
paperwork with you for reference or if any get mislaid)
6. Completed your CS&PF medical.
7. Sent in your CS&PF application (to make our lives a little
easier and give you peace of mind).
It might still be cold outside and seem a long way off BUT ---
